What to Prepare

We want to hear each musician play so that we can place them in the appropriate bands for their experience and growth. Schedule an audition and prepare some materials to play. Here are some suggestions as to what to prepare.

For all instrumentalists minus drums:

• 2 pieces of varying styles, between 30-45 seconds

• (Optional) Improvisation to a jazz standard of your choice

​

For drummers, please prepare to play 4-8 bars of the following styles:

• Swing

• Shuffle

• Bossa Nova

• Funk

• Pop/Rock​

Also prepare 2 songs of contrasting styles

​

For vocalists, please prepare the following:

• 2 songs of different styles. Verse/Chorus or 1:00 of singing time​​
