Songwriter/Music Production Course
NEW FOR JANUARY 2027!
We are incredibly excited to announce our first-ever Songwriting & Music Production Course at Mountaintop Music Institute!
This four-month program is being offered in partnership with Foreign Figures Studio in Provo, Utah, giving young musicians the opportunity to develop their songwriting skills while gaining real-world experience in a professional recording studio.
What’s Included:
Weekly In-Person Sessions
Participants will meet for two-hour sessions each week with a member of the Foreign Figures studio team at their professional studio in Provo. Sessions will cover the foundations of songwriting—including lyrics, melody, and harmony—as well as the fundamentals of recording and music production, including multitracking, EQ, compression, and more. We want to show each musician the full process of writing, recording, and releasing a song.
Open Mic Performance Opportunities
Participants will have at least two open mic nights at the Mountaintop Music Institute studio, giving them the opportunity to perform and showcase the songs they have written throughout the course.
Online Learning Course
Students will also receive access to an online course that expands on the topics covered during the in-person sessions. These lessons can be watched and revisited from home as students continue developing their songwriting, recording, and production skills.
Exclusive MMI + Foreign Figures Home Studio Bundle
Through our partnership with Sweetwater, we are able to offer participants an affordable beginner recording bundle designed to help musicians build their own home studio. The bundle includes headphones, a microphone, audio interface, XLR cable, and everything needed to begin recording at home—all for a fraction of the regular cost.
Professional Recording Studio Experience
Students will get hands-on experience working inside a professional recording studio and begin learning what it takes to engineer a recording session. Topics will include microphone placement, recording different instruments, using virtual instruments, multitracking, and more.
This is an exciting opportunity for musicians who want to take their creativity beyond performing and learn how to write, record, produce, and bring their own music to life.

There is no age limit to this course.
